So today the QMII arrived [I actually heard its horn blow at 7am this morning, it woke me up, even though I wasnt home, but at my love's... we're not right by the river like my place, but very close] and it was scheduled to leave at 5pm.

Every parking spot for a 20-mile radius along the shoreline was taken. These mass hysteria rushes to our neighbourhood used to end up in at least one car being parked too close to the railway and getting scraped by the train, when train there still used to be. I cannot imagine what the traffic situation must have been in town, on Dalhousie and so forth. The other day just because of the "Norwegian Dream", not a Cunard or anything, just a big ship, the buses got late on schedule, so they skipped one to get even - THE 6:11 PM #1 - THE MOST IMPORTANT BUS OF THE DAY ON THAT LINE. TONS of people waited [including grumpy little me] for half an hour thus missing the 6:30 ferry thus having to wait AN HOUR for the next one. Need I tell you I called up the bus company and gave 'em some CRAP! And they said I wasnt the only one...

{Have you ever experienced heading home with 4 grocery bags, shoulders aching, feet tired, on a crowded bus, much more crowded than the usual 5 pm Tuesday, and then as your turn a street corner an elderly lady starts screaming in a shrieking voice "IT'S THERE!! I SEE IT!!!! LOOK!!!" and all the rest of the elderly ladies accompanying her exclaim and start yelling "WE'RE GETTING OFF HERE!!" and the bus stops and everyone except you gets out even though this isnt even a regular stop on the bus route? That's pretty special, and is a common occurance at the end of summer where I live.}

So there was no way I was going even near the ferry station today. Just getting home was hard. An incessant flow of cars going excruciatingly slow, campers blocking the city buses lanes, people everywhere, everywhere, everywhere... I was surprised I didnt catch no one squatting in my yard. Some people in my neighbourhood who had extra parking spaces [you know, in their driveway] even put up some signs "PARKING 7$" Fucking christ!!! I almost got out a Post-It and pen to write "what a rip off!!"

Afterwards, there was a traffic jam for 5 miles long because my street is the only street for 5 miles straight. I could see the cars' red lights far away as they stamped in line, waiting to get up the hill at snail speed. FEET are so efficient! You cant go down over rocks or through a path with a car....

On to pretty picturesCollapse )

When the Cunard leaves, then you know that the cruise ship season is Officially Closed, as is Summer Time. Welcome soothing beautiful Fall, I've missed you a lot.

I've been turning into a sell-out english-speaking whore dernièrement pis ça m'énerve.

[this post is gonna be like "infotainment" - heavily strikingly illustrated to keep the visual and brainless audience interested, aswell as text-heavy and content-filled to capture the more intellectual viewer.... ]

IS very handsome and attractive and all but, crâille!!! He dumped herIt ended between them 18 years ago and nothing happened since! Talk about tentacules...]

We're getting the stove - fridge - washer & dryer of a guy who's going on a long vacation in a federal facility for 6 years. I dont think he'll remember his appliances when he gets out.

My love struck a deal with the local Yellow Cab Company the other night. I dont know how he always pulls these tricks. Anyway, we're only gonna pay 10$, even if our ride is more expensive than that. This goes also for me if I take the cab alone.

[no we dont have a car, because my boyfriend cant drive. He CAN drive, as he knows how to, but he lost his license cause of a stupid thing he did when he was in the auto-destruct lane of his life and it's still a while before he can have it again..... and I, retard as it is, havent got my license yet. I dont have a budget for a car right now, sorry. I like to eat sometimes....] But as we were just getting in the cab that night, a long black Cadillac passed by, slowly, like a dream.... I looked at it and sighed "That's my car...." [he likes them too and used to have that kinda car]. My love then said "oh, if we had a nice old Caddy, we'd fill it up!! we'd fill it up!" And I'm like "fill it up with what?" and he said "with you and me, baby"

I love it at his place. It's a haven for me, a refuge. A home away from home where there is no unwanted noise, no unwanted people, no annoyances. And now with the cab deal and all, I wont have to walk an hour to get there or take stupid buses that run just 3 times a day and cost 3$ a shot.

We rummaged in the boxes he already had there and he showed me lots of his stuff, I tried some of his clothes on, etc.. he has very classy suits & all.... he even got a fur coat! Can you believe it!

Eating hawaian pizza at midnight and standing in the kitchen when suddenly he says "câlisse que t'es belle". J'adore.

Of course he won but the apprentice [me] is making progress.

Waiting for a call return, which will come tomorrow or in 3 weeks time.

+++++++++

I am experimenting with Paypal. I got an account, I'm just worried how it works? [I've never used it] Is there a message box where you guys can state for WHICH ZINE and WHICH ISSUE # you are Paypalling $? That would be very important that you state that, and ALSO include your mailing address, so I can send the zines straight away and dont have to figure out who ordered what and have to e-mail everyone. If you wanna try it out my paypal addy is iza_bourret@yahoo.com but for any zine enquiry please write at girl_w_cat@yahoo.com

More details [and other zines!] on my new webiste! at! http://www.geocities.com/girl_w_cat

Some portions of the website arent built yet so some links just arent activated yet, but all you need is there and you can see excerpts of all the zines available. Also if your zine has a website, or you are a distro, and would like to exchange links! e-mail me! girl_w_cat@yahoo.com

As always these zines are distro'able. I am buying a digital scale on Monday and will figure out the wholesale prices with this, because postage costs have gone sky-high here in the past year. It's like every time I go to mail something there's been an increase. They even had the nerve to have an increase on my Birthday! What a shame on Canada Post! There's even a surcharge for fuel now, if you hadnt notice [they dont tell you, I saw it written on the receipt!]

Thanks a lot!

{PS: Orange & Blue #16: Departure of a Prince is printed in french. I need to saw a stapler in half to staple them, & then start working on the english translation. Petit train va loin......}

HTML DESIGN HELP PLEASE!!!!
07:57pm 29/08/2005

mood: busy
I'm workin' on my new website for my zines and I'd like the excerpts pages to open in a window of a smaller size than the whole screen, you know like a little square, maybe 540x540 pixels. I am very very not skilled and all my website is designed in very basic HTML that I typed myself using no other designing software than my BRAIN, copy/paste keys, and the webmonkey website for tips and code tags. I just spend an hour+ searching their site and I couldnt find the tags for this. [searched page size, window size, link in new window, window properties, didnt find ANYTHING]. In my mind this is a pretty simple procedure so I am hoping someone on my friends list who has made a website before will know that and can PLEASE tell me what the HTML tag is?? [dont talk to me about CSS, Javascript, and other.... I dont understand...its chinese to me.... I just learned how to use frames and I'm still having trouble sometimes]

I hope someone knows!!!!! Please help! It would look so much prettier if the window was smaller! [it's a link, you click on it then the excerpt page open in a new window [using the "target" tag].... it is the SIZE of the NEW WINDOW [or any window, it should all be the same methinks?] I would like to control.

HELP!!!!!!!!

*****EDIT AFTER 3 HOURS OF FUCKIN' AROUND : J'AI RÉUSSI!!!!!! J'AI RÉUSSI!!!!!!! YESSSSSSSSS! I DID IT!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I need to get out of here

The BIG BANG.
02:29am 13/08/2005

mood: impressed
WOW.

Seriously, les Grands Feux Loto-Québec. LE WOW.

I've been to a FABULOUS fireworks show tonight. I'm really IM-PRESSED. We get our share of fireworks every summer : St-Jean, Canada Day, the Tanguay fireworks in Lévis, but this.... THIS is something.

You know how you feel when you've just read a Jules Verne novel you hadnt read before [or discovered a brilliant new band, or seen a color you didnt know existed for the first time in your life, or something like that...] and you get all excited about how grand life is and you're wide-eyed and gap-mouthed and your heart is just about to explode with every breath you take? Yeah, it was LIKE THAT. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND anyone go to this.

Every major city has its own international fireworks festival these days. You know, like the Benson & Hedges but they dont call it that anymore cuz cigarettes cant sponsor events. I remember when it was the Benson & Hedges in Vancouver at English Bay. Then it changed for "Symphony of Fire" and now "Celebration of Light". They have one in Montreal too, le "Mondial SAQ". Usually this takes places near water. I must say the Québec City one is especially spectacular.

We have these waterfalls just outside the city, les Chutes Montmorency. They are across from Orléans Island, near the big St-Anne-de-Beaupré pilgrimage church. I went to these fireworks once ten years ago, but I never remembered it was so impressive. MAN was it grand. And I have pictures to prove it!!!!!!

I also took Marcel with me, and he too was thoroughly impressed! It was his first time there.

So basically you got the waterfall in the background, and the fireworks are poppin gup overhead, aswell as some all around it, some from the water below, and some special arrangement falling down the chute. For 12$ this was some show. They also had special buses from downtown to get there [it took 10 minutes].

Tonight was the grand finale [every Sat and Wed they had one of 5 countries, and tonight was the finale = when they announce the winner and every country gave a token performance. I thought this was the best date since we would see a piece of every country. It was!]

I must say even though they had to determine a winner, it must have been hard because each country had something special about their show. So without further ado:

the pics!!! *****Please note there are 55 PICS under this cut. I highly suggest you close up some applications if you have many running and save any documents you're working on, especially if you dont have high-speed, since I would not want to be the cause of a frustrating loss of data... if it takes too long to load or you cant see the pics, go there: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v159/malenikiy/fireworks05/ also- it is hard to do justice in photo to such a grandiose show that is meant to be seen with the eyes, in motion, music & all.... but my camera did a pretty good job this time! *****

Husky and Whisky went on an adventure. They were two miniature huskies who, after coming out of the plush toy factory, had had to hang on the wall of a fair's game stand for far too long. So when someone finally won them and they were taken down from their hanging spot, they coudnt help by run around and discover the World.

Happy Canada Day everyone! In Québec July 1st is also known as "National Moving Day". We're so crazy here we all moved the same day. And in this heat? [and later-storm?] I'm darn glad I'm not moving. Been there done that way too many times! I'm staying put. Après 4 moves cross-country Québec-Vancouver and back, je suis déterminée à ne plus jamais déménager de ma sainte vie.

Donc sans plus attendre, les images! Do I have to re-state that taking pictures of fireworks as they happen [cause er, would be hard to take pictures of them when they aren't...] is a an ART. An art of TIMING and sometimes and art of PURE LUCK. The camera sort of "focusses" and doesnt take the picture immediately when you press the button [not mine anyway] and sometimes it's a little longer before it snaps the shot. So you take a guess. You watch the little spark go out and try to guess the moment when it's going to pop. Etc. It's kind of distracting to be taking pictures while watching too. I wanna stop doing this. I need a videocamera. NOW.

Me faut une nouvelle caméra vidéo.

xxxxx
